Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Solid Waste Practice in any of the following South Atlantic Area locations: Raleigh, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Wilmington, Greenville (SC), Columbia, Rock Hill, Charleston, Atlanta or Savannah. The primary duties of this position will include all aspects of engineering, project management, project pursuits, and client relationship management for projects primarily focused on the municipal solid waste (MSW), industrial waste, and recycling industries, with an emphasis on system planning, engineering analysis, cost estimating, design, construction management, pollution control systems, and permitting/regulatory compliance. Specific duties will include planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of landfill and monofill liner and final cover systems, storm water controls, groundwater monitoring and remediation networks, leachate management systems, landfill gas collection and control systems, and site layout/infrastructure elements (utilities, roads, support buildings, soil borrow areas, etc.).

The Senior Project Manager will function as a lead project designer, engineer of record, and project manager on mid-size to large projects, and is expected to demonstrate a history of progressive experience effectively leading similar scale projects. This individual will be expected to effectively manage multi-discipline project teams, work closely with HDR national technical experts, maintain client satisfaction and achieve booking goals. They will also be expected to market and secure new work from existing and potential clients, coordinate the work of professional staff and subconsultants throughout project assignments, perform engineering functions and complete project tasks, coordinate with clients in the execution of work, and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. They must demonstrate leadership experience in taking a project from planning, through design, construction to operations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline

10+ years general Civil/Environmental Engineering experience with an emphasis on MSW facility design, permitting, and construction

Demonstrated experience in project development and execution in the public and private sectors

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proven leadership and project management skills

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel)

Must be detail-oriented and a team player with great communication, technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time management skills

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus

Local candidates are preferred
