Primary Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Construction Manager / Field Engineer are to support the Rail Construction Management team in the management and oversight of construction projects for our railroad and agency clients. Specific responsibilities include representing the client onsite, coordination between the project team, reporting, construction oversight, and assisting with construction documentation. The Construction Manager / Field Engineer may also assist with in-office tasks such as the review and response to submittals from the Contractor. The position's typical work schedule will mirror that of the assigned project schedule (working onsite during construction with time off aligning with the contractor's schedule). The Construction Manager / Field Engineer must be comfortable in positions of authority, an effective communicator, self-starter, organized, detail oriented, problem solver and capable of working in a team environment. Will work closely with HDR Rail Construction Management team, Contractors, Agencies, and Railroad Employees.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Must be willing to regularly travel to construction sites during the project work schedule.
Must be comfortable and able to regularly work at active construction sites and environments.
A Bachelors degree in a Construction or Civil Engineering related field is preferred but not required.
3+ years experience in construction management or construction engineering preferred but not required. Railroad construction experience preferred.
Hands on experience working with construction documentation preferred (ex: inspector reports, submittals, RFIs, scheduling, coordination, etc.).
MS Office Applications experience is required.
Strong interest in construction management.
Must have strong communication skills and a willingness to work in a team environment.
