Position Description

 

The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), a national medical society representing over 8,000 physicians has an immediate opening for a Manager, Corporate Relations and Career Resources.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Corporate Support team to develop and maintain programs and relationships, sell advertising in several of AAPM&R’s publications as well as sponsorships and serve members through a career services program.  The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and be able to support the Associate Director with the development and implementation of long term planning.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, evaluates and directs the implementation of the Academy’s career networking services, including the online job board and the annual Job Fair. Also, serves as the point person to the Academy’s service provider for the online job board, Boxwood Technology.
  • Researches and develops strategy, including budget analysis, to grow the Academy’s career services to meet member needs and grow non-dues revenue.
  • Identifies, defines and sells sponsorships, product theaters and satellite symposia annually.
  • Works with the meetings and marketing departments to place advertising, run the Job Fair, and gather logistics for product theaters and satellite events at the Annual Assembly.
  • Responsible for selling advertising in several Academy publications and on line spaces.
  • Writes promotional copy and works with marketing department to create advertisements and place articles to encourage participation or purchase of ads/sponsorships.
  • Works with exhibit manager to develop and grow relationships and expand the advertiser and exhibitor base.
  • Develops budgets, monitors and reports on actual to budgeted revenue, reconciles revenue and expenses with accounting.
  • Researches and recommends new non-dues revenue streams, watching trends from other organizations, existing service providers, etc.
  • Recommends and implements ideas to improve processes and streamline work flows.
  • Communicates with the Academy staff to understand new products and services and generates ideas for support opportunities.
  • Works closely with administrative staff to provide direction on projects and tasks.
  • Understands and tracks current regulations (federal, ACCME, CMSS, etc.) recognizing the impact on sponsorship procurement.
  • Assists the associate director of business and resource development, associate executive director of education, and others as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Solid business writing and communication skills.
  • Adept at sales and relationship building.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Products; working familiarity with iMIS or other relationship databases.
  • Solid in budgeting, tracking, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Writing, submitting and reconciling grants a plus.
  • Skilled team player who collaborates with others to achieve mutual goals.
     

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or other affiliated discipline.
At least five year’s of business experience, preferably in association management or health care.

Estimated travel:
Less than 10 percent.
