Position Description
The Administrative Director, Perioperative and Anesthesia Svcs is responsible for the complete administration of the Perioperative and Anesthesia services. The position incorporates the fiscal responsibility as well as the clinical and personnel functions of the following areas: operating rooms, post anesthesia care, ambulatory surgery, pretesting, endoscopy, cystoscopy, sterile processing, surgery scheduling. This position is responsible for the administration of the department of anesthesia and a collaborative relationship with the Chair of Anesthesia on clinical matters affecting all areas of Perioperative Services.
The Administrative Director, Perioperative and Anesthesia Svcs interacts with all levels of hospital personnel including top level administrators, physicians, managers, patients and family members. It also interrelates with community members, vendors and other external people.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Baccalaureate Drgree in Nursing. Master's degree preferred. A graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current registration with the District of Columbia Board of Nursing. Minimum of three (3) years experience in operating room nursing. Five (5) years in a management position in which administrative, supervisory, and teaching abilities have been demonstrated. Budget planning experience in operational and capital equipment. Knowledge of standards for Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies. Extensive knowledge in current healthcare trends, concepts, principles and practices.
