POSITION DUTIES: This is a position in the Insurance Division of the MD State Treasurer’s Office. A Casualty Claims Adjuster Supervisor is the supervisory level of work handling all first and third party claims, making liability decisions regarding third party claims and conducting investigations. Employees in this classification supervise subordinate Casualty Claims Adjusters.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six years of experience in settling multi-line claims; two of the six years must be in commercial insurance or public sector environment and at least two years of supervisory experience.
Notes:

Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of experience.

Possession of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Applicants will be subject to a background investigation.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
-
The two years of required supervisory experience must be in claims management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Skilled in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
2. Knowledge of state and/or local government tort claims acts
3. AIC, SCLA or other insurance industry designation or related course work

SELECTION PROCESS: Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be admitted to examination for this classification. Successful candidates will be ranked as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED and placed on the employment (eligible) list for one year.

Educational credentials from foreign countries must be evaluated by an approved education review service and submitted with your application.
