CLOSING DATE: August 9, 2010
POSITION DUTIES: This is a position in the Insurance Division of the MD State Treasurer’s Office. A Casualty Claims Adjuster Supervisor is the supervisory level of work handling all first and third party claims, making liability decisions regarding third party claims and conducting investigations. Employees in this classification supervise subordinate Casualty Claims Adjusters.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six years of experience in settling multi-line claims; two of the six years must be in commercial insurance or public sector environment and at least two years of supervisory experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Skilled in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
2. Knowledge of state and/or local government tort claims acts
3. AIC, SCLA or other insurance industry designation or related course work
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
SELECTION PROCESS: Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be admitted to examination for this classification. Successful candidates will be ranked as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED and placed on the employment (eligible) list for one year.
EXAMINATION: The examination may consist of a review of applications/resumes for education, training and experience. Educational credentials from foreign countries must be evaluated by an approved education review service and submitted with your application. Applications will be evaluated based on the materials submitted in relation to the above position responsibilities and requirements. Therefore, it is important to provide complete and accurate information.

- The two years of required supervisory experience must be in claims management.

- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
